PT Paiton Energy was established in February 1994 and started commercial operation of two power plants (Units 7 and 8) in May and July 1999. The capacity of each unit is 615MW. Unit 3 having capacity of 815MW, is the first super critical coal fired power plant in Indonesia and started commercial operation in March 2012. Super Critical Boiler Technology provides a higher efficiency, a lower fuel (coal) consumption and subsequently lower CO2 emissions. The coals with extremely low sulphur and ash content are supplied from Kalimantan and Sumatra.
